Kara Chutney Recipe | Onion Tomato Chutney

Ingredients

  • Tomatoes - 2

  • Onions -1

  • Curry leaf - handful

  • Mustard Seeds - 1/2 tsp

  • Red chilies - 4

  • Black gram dal - 1tsp

  • Oil

  • Salt


Method

  1. Add 1 tsp of oil in a pan. Keep the pan in low flame.

  2. Add black gram dal and 2 red chilies, saute it till the lentils become golden brown.

  3. Add onions and saute it 2 minutes.

  4. Add tomatoes and 1/2 tsp salt and cover the pan with lid and let it cook for 2 minutes.

  5. Blend the mixture to a fine paste and then transfer it to a serving bowl.

  6. For tempering add 1 tsp of oil, heat it and add mustard seeds and 2 red chilies.

  7. Switch off the flame and then add curry leaves.

  8. Add the tempering to the red chutney.
