Bottle Guard with Bengal Gram Dal Curry Recipe

Ingredients

  • Bengal Gram dal -1 cup

  • Bottle guard diced - 250 gram

  • Ginger garlic paste - 1 spoon

  • Tomato- 2

  • Green chili slit - 2

  • Coriander powder -1 tsp

  • Chili powder - 1 tsp

  • Garam masala - ¼ tsp

  • Cumin seeds - 1 tsp

  • Asafoetida (hing) - a pinch

  • Water - 2 cup

  • Ghee or oil - 2 tbsp

  • Salt to taste

  • Coriander leaves


Method

  1. In a pressure cooker add ghee and heat it.

  2. Add cumin seed to the hot ghee

  3. When it splutters add asafoetida, coriander powder and turmeric powder. Make sure it doesn't get burned.

  4. Add tomato and salt and saute it. Cover it with a lid and cook it in low flame for 3 minutes

  5. When the oil comes out from the cooker add Bengal gram dal and bottle guard.

  6. Add 2 cups of water

  7. Cover it with lid and cook it in pressure cooker, after 1 whistle keep the cooker in low flame for 15 minutes

  8. When the pressure releases give it a good stir and garnish it with coriander leaves.
